Abstract: In the early period of the 20th century, Chinese scholars carried out more studies about the history of ancient Mesopotamia. Several historical books in other languages were translated into Chinese and some Chinese scholars also published their books dealing with Mesopotamia and Ancient Babylon. Among these, Cai Yi's research papers on Ancient Babylon were especially praiseworthy. The publication of these papers indicated that the Chinese scholarship of the Ancient Middle East had established connection with the international learned societies in this area.
