提 要：中国早期史学传统具有独特的风格，不仅务求真实记录，而且运用褒扬和贬抑等书法义例评判历史，其依据则是“中道”观念。“中道”观念是上古圣王为政理民的智慧结晶,其传承与发展与中国早期史学传统的品格关联密切，影响后世很大。

Title: The Notion of Zhongdaoand the Traditional Chinese Historiography

Abstract: Traditional Chinese historiography has a unique style in its early stage, which is that not only to seek reality and objectiveness, but also to make comments on historical facts with various methods. In doing so, the notion ofZhongdao(中道, middle way) functioned as a fundamental concept. This concept is the crystallization of the wisdom of the political ideals of the ancient sage Kings. The continuity and development of this notion brought influence to later Chinese historiography significantly.
