提 要：欧美学者对罗马道路史的研究明显地呈现出3个阶段特征：自近代到20世纪以前，虽然有学者涉及罗马道路史的内容，但罗马道路史作为罗马社会史的重要组成部分没有得到应有的地位和足够的研究。20世纪上半期，罗马道路史研究在西方史学界开始受到重视，相关论著主要集中在对道路的区域性研究和个案研究，而对罗马道路进行全面研究的综合性著作并没有出现。20世纪后半期，对罗马道路的区域性和综合性研究占有突出地位，许多著作开始涉及与道路相关的社会生活。就总体而言，罗马道路史进一步深入研究的空间仍然很大。

Title: A Survey of European and American scholarship on Roman Roads

Abstract:The research on history of Roman Roads made by European and American scholars characteristically undergoes three stages: from modern times to the 20th century, the academic community did not pay enough attention to Roman Roads although some scholars began to be involved in its content. The history of Roman Roads, as an important part of Roman social history, failed to obtain the due position and sufficient research; in the first half of the 20th century, western scholars began to attach importance to the study of Roman Roads. During this period, regional studies and case studies were conducted but the comprehensive studies were not carried out. Therefore, in this period, studies of the Roman Roads were still in the initial stage; during the latter half of the 20th century, regional and comprehensive studies occupied a prominent position. Meanwhile, many works began to be concerned about the relevant social life. Academic studies on the Roman Roads launched the further development. However, on the whole, in the study on Roman Roads, there are still many unsatisfactory areas for further in-depth study.
