Abstract:The “right-hand turn law” (or “clockwise law”) widely exists on the artifacts which applied circles or circumferences as “units” of art design or aesthetic sight, and the law was used much more than the “left”. As for the faience from Chinese prehistoric cultural heritage such as Yangshao, Longshan cultural lineage, they were mostly painted on the mouth, the bottom, the shoulder and the belly of the bottles, vessels, pots, plates and bowls. The “right-hand turn law” was clearly shown. This is to say, the “right-hand turn law” was rooted as a “rule” or “model” since the very beginning of Chinese art. It got matured in plastic arts after the Qin and Han dynasties. In this study, the representation, constituent elements and characteristics of this phenomenon will be depicted and analyzed in brief.
