北魏后妃出家现象初探

提要:北魏时期佛教兴盛,僧尼人数众多,而且出现了众多后妃舍身寺院为尼的现象。虽然她们出家的原因各异,但对北魏社会造成了巨大影响,不仅带动了这一时期后宫宫人出家的风尚,还造成了一些寺院的奢华腐化,甚至成为权贵安置妻妾的场所。

Abstract:Buddhism
flourished in the Northern Wei Dynasty. There were a large
number of monks and nuns, as well as a phenomenon of that
many empresses and imperial concubines escaped from the
palace to become nuns. Although everyone of this kind of
court ladies had her own particular reason to become a nun,
this phenomenon caused tremendous social impact. Along with
the court ladies’ conversion, the Buddhist temples turned to
be luxury and further corrupted. Some of the temples even
became the places where the powerful males to placed their
disfavored wives or concubines.
